Vice first revealed their documentary on the longtime WWE boss last week. Now, we have a release date and title. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, The Nine Lives of Vince McMahon will be released on October 18 at 8:00 PM. This would mean that the upcoming Vice documentary will air at the same time as the Halloween Havoc go home edition of WWE NXT and AEW Dynamite, which will hold a special Tuesday edition on the same day. Additionally, it will be the lead-in for Tales of the Territories, a new wrestling documentary series by Vice, for that night. What makes The Nine Lives of Vince McMahon particularly interesting is that it will not involve the WWE. This gives Vice journalistic and creative freedom to explore incidents that the WWE would otherwise like to keep private. Case in point, reports claims that it will cover the recent resignation of the elder McMahon and the events that led up to it. Judging by the name, we can look forward to seeing other controversies surrounding Vince such as when he and the then-WWF were accused of distributing steroids to its wrestlers in the 90s. Two other documentaries about the Alpha Entertainment co-founder are currently in limbo. The first one, a four-part docuseries by Netflix, was pulled by the streaming giant from its schedule. The filmmaker is currently working with the WWE to finish the project. The other one is a limited series dramatization that might no longer see the light of the day now that McMahon has resigned from the WWE. It’s worth noting that McMahon resigned from the WWE in July.
