While we move to the next iteration of Warzone, it seems some major changes will occur in the current Warzone that many may not receive well. According to Activision and Call of Duty, the current version will still be playable, with the servers running flawlessly. The players will still be able to play the current version of Warzone. Current Warzone will continue receiving quality-of-life updates and fixes as needed, despite Warzone 2 being the primary support focus. According to a reliable industry insider, Tom Henderson, the name will also be changed to Warzone: Caldera. While it is still not official, Warzone may lose more than just the name.

TheGhostOfHope says that both Fortune’s Keep and Rebirth Island will be removed from the current version of Warzone, leaving behind Caldera. This also makes sense for the new Warzone: Caldera name.

You can expect a gunfight at every corner, making these two maps some of the most enjoyable maps. In fact, after the release of Caldera, many players switched to these smaller maps. It is unclear whether the maps will return in Warzone 2 or not, but this move is likely a strategic decision on Activision’s part to push more players to try out the new Al Mazrah map on Warzone 2. Even if they decide to bring Rebirth Island and some form of Fortune’s Keep back, it will be several months after the release of Warzone 2 before it happens. Following the showcase during the Call of Duty NEXT event, many players and content creators have raised some concerns about the upcoming Warzone 2. Many players have expressed their desire to continue playing the current version of Warzone rather than transitioning to the newer one. The decision to remain on the current version of Warzone comes after witnessing numerous unsought changes showcased in the next iteration of Warzone during the Call of Duty NEXT event. The loadout system is what essentially sets the Warzone battle royale experience apart from the other BRs out there.
