The rumor goes that Valkyrie Entertainment is hiring a Senior Environment Artist and the studio is using its credential as one of those working on “the next iteration of God of War.” This sounds pretty believable, and it’s true. The problem is that the listing isn’t new. Valkyrie Entertainment created the listing on September 13, 2021, which is over a year ago. So, the “next iteration of God of War” at the time would be God of War: Ragnarok. It’s not clear if the studio has found someone to fill the position yet. However, we’re 100% sure that the hired Senior Environment Artist is going to work on the studio’s other projects and not God of War 3 or whatever Sony wants to name it. We’d be far more inclined to believe that a new God of War is in development if this was a brand-new job listing, but it’s not. Of course, this isn’t to say that a new God of War game isn’t on the cards. Given the success of God of War: Ragnarok, Sony and Santa Monica Studio will want to spend the better part of the next decade planning where the franchise will go next. But, if we’re being honest, we prefer to see Santa Monica Studio work on something else like Castlevania, especially since Eric Williams has already expressed his desire to do so. Who knows? Maybe Williams was teasing something since Konami’s been rumored to be working on a new Castlevania game for a while.
