In an interview with Screen Rant’s Tom Bacon, former Disney and Marvel Studios attorney Paul Sarker commented on the legality of The Amazing Spider-Man 3. Here is what Sarker had to say if Sony will run into legal issues with The Amazing Spider-Man 3: Unfortunately, Sarker’s later statements might disappoint fans. As Sarker explains, “Andrew Garfield may not want to do [The Amazing Spider-Man 3],” referring to the actor expressing that he wants to take a break from acting. Garfield’s pair of The Amazing Spider-Man films were the most vilified of the web-crawler’s run on the big screen. They might not have been the worst live-action Spider-Man films, but audiences and critics weren’t exactly huge fans of the movies when they first came out. However, as time passed, the public gained a better appreciation for The Amazing Spider-Man movies. It probably didn’t hurt that Garfield has become a critically acclaimed actor in the years since. At the end of the day, making The Amazing Spider-Man 3 happen all depends on Sony and Garfield. But, if it comes true, then the Sony Spider-Man Universe will have a Spider-Man. At the moment, Sony is working on multiple live-action films for the SSU, including Kraven the Hunter, Madame Web, El Muerto, and Venom 3. Except for Venom 3, all three upcoming SSU movies already have release dates or release windows. If we’re lucky, Sony will be able to fit Garfield’s Spider-Man into Venom 3 before his solo outing in 2024 if not 2025.
