The success and popularity of the Witcher games also led to the creation of The Witcher TV series, which stars Henry Cavill as the protagonist, Geralt of Rivia. Now that CDPR has finally started releasing DLCs for Cyberpunk 2077, it appears that the company is starting to apply more resources towards working on a new Witcher game.
When is the release date of the next Witcher game?
Had Cyberpunk 2077 not been released the way that it was, we’d probably hear more about the next Witcher game by now. However, with CDPR devoting more resources to fixing Cyberpunk 2077 while also making sure that it doesn’t subject its employees to unfair working conditions, it’s safe to say that it will be a while before CDPR announces anything related to Witcher 4. Of course, even if that’s the case, it doesn’t mean that hawk-eyed observers will just leave them alone. Case in point, fans recently spotted a new job listing from CDPR. According to the job listing, CDPR is looking for a full-time Camera Programmer to work in CD Projekt RED Vancouver for an unlisted project. The listing specifies that applicants should have “experience in developing real-time third person perspective cameras”. This “secretive” nature has led many to believe that CDPR is working on a new Witcher game. Even if CDPR hasn’t started working on Witcher 4, it does make sense for the company to start hiring more people for its multiple studios. For one, CDPR was the subject of much, deserved criticism in late 2020. This came after news broke out that the once-beloved company subjected employees to long hours for months. In addition to this, CDPR also promised earlier this year that it will start working on the next Witcher and Cyberpunk 2077 in parallel together in 2022. So far, CDPR has yet to comment on this matter. However, there’s enough proof available to know that CDPR is working on a new game, which we’re hoping is Witcher 4. In the meantime, there’s plenty of Witcher content available right now and also coming soon to keep you busy. The first season of Netflix’s The Witcher TV is still available if you haven’t watched it yet. This should tide you over until the release of The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf on August 23, 2021, and The Witcher season 2 on December 17, 2021.
